Ultherapy or Thermage? That is the question.
Patients looking for non-surgical options to tighten and lift the skin will come across these two top leading industry treatments.
Ultherapy and Thermage treatments can sound quite similar.
Both use non-invasive means, by sending energy to heat their target area and stimulate collagen production.
Ultherapy and Thermage have little to no downtime and patients are able to return after treatment to their regular schedule as normal.
This is where the similarity ends.
One important difference is the type of energy used. Thermage uses radiofrequency energy whereas Ultherapy uses Focused Ultrasound energy.
Focused Ultrasound is unique in that it allows for Ultherapy to reach much deeper than other treatments. The technicians are also able to use an ultrasound screen to see exactly where they are targeting the ultrasound energy.
This leads us to the second difference between the two treatments, their target areas.
Since radiofrequency is only able to reach the upper dermis, Thermage targets the outer layers of the skin, smoothing superficial fine lines and promoting some collagen growth.
Ultherapy is able to target much deeper for more dramatic results.
Ultherapy can reach right down to the muscle and SMAS of the face essentially targeting the same tissues that are addressed in a face lift.
Ultherapy focuses on targeting areas of the face, neck and décolleté. This is why Ultherapy is the only FDA approved non-invasive treatment for lifting and tightening areas such as the neck and brow.
If you are debating between Ultherapy or Thermage, consider what areas you would like targeted. Are you looking for superficial tightening of the skin or are you looking for a much deeper lift?
At Lasting Looks Clinc our technicians have been using Ultherapy for up to a decade.
