PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma.
PRP is also a non-surgical treatment option for men and women with concerns of hair loss.
How does it work?
Dr. Ellis will take 8 ml of blood from your arm and use a special machine to spin it down to get the platelet rich plasma. Through an injection machine and with a tiny needle like that oscillates rapidly, the PRP is rapidly tapped one or 2 mm into the scalp.
The high concentrations of growth factors found in your plasma stimulate the growth of the hair follicles.
These growth factors are injected in the scalp area and once the growth factors stimulate hair follicles that are in the telogen (resting) phase of hair growth, they will change these follicles into its anagen or growth phase.
During the month the growth factors will stimulate the follicles and hair should grow approximately 1 half of an inch per month.
These treatments are virtually painless with virtually no down time, and no disruption to your daily routine. There is usually no noticeable swelling in the area.
Dr Ellis at Lasting Looks Clinic in Toronto will perform 3 PRP sessions at approximately 1-month intervals.
The full effect of your treatments will be seen over a 3-6 month period. It is recommended to continue yearly sessions to maintain your results. For more information go to: https://www.lastinglooks.ca/prp-stem-cell.php
