When going away on vacation, we particularly want to have beautiful healthy glowing skin, however right before your vacation is not the right time to start laser treatments. This can actually cause more damage than good.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is used to treat brown spots, age spots, pigmentation issues, cherry angiomas, or even out skin tone.
IPL works by using bright light to target melanin and blood vessels just below the skin surface, destroying pigment and redness in the skin.
If patients were to go directly into sunlight without proper protection of sunblock, this could cause those targeted areas to further darken and create pigmentation problems.
Proper sun protection should be used daily, not just on sunny days or while on vacation.
Zinc oxide offers true broad spectrum protection from UVB (burning) and UVA (aging cancer causing) rays. Other SPF ingredients such as Titanium dioxide can only protect the skin up to a certain degree.
Always remember, it is preferable to start IPL, also known as Photo Facial treatments long before your vacation, or after your tan has faded.
