Micro Needling (Dermaroller) (CIT) / Skin Needling
What is MicroNeedling?
Touted as today’s “Miracle Treatment”, Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is one of the fastest growing trends in the beauty industry.
This treatment is also referred to as Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI), Skin Rolling, Skin Needling, Micro Needle Therapy, and Derma Rolling.
Skin Rolling/Needling involves the use of manually operated skin rollers that have approximately 200 fine surgical steel needles, attached to the roller device. It is manually rolled directly over the skin’s surface in a criss-cross motion. The needles puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury.
Medical Needling is Effectively Used to:
- Lift and smooth aged skin & sun damaged skin
- Reduce scars caused by acne, surgery or burns
- Fade stretch marks
- Reduce fine lines and fade deep wrinkles
- Even skin pigmentation
- Reduce enlarged open pores
- Tighten sagging skin
- Normalize oily skin
- Smooth skin texture in troublesome areas such as arms and buttocks

What Makes Medical Skin Needling So Safe and Effective?
It does not use any heat, nor does it remove the top layer of skin (the epidermis).
Medical skin needling helps release 3 key growth factors. As each fine needle punctures the skin, it creates a channel or micro-wound. The controlled injury triggers the body to fill these micro-wounds by producing new collagen and elastin in the papillary dermis. This leads to skin rejuvenation i.e. improved skin texture, firmness and hydration.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
At least 3 treatments are needed, while scar reduction treatments require more.
How will I Look Immediately After Treatment?
After the procedure your skin may be red and flushed in appearance, similar to the appearance of sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to the touch. This will diminish within the next 48 hours. Using hyaluronic acid after the procedure can help reduce inflammation. Sunblock must be used to protect the skin. Makeup should be limited to mineral makeup.
How Quickly Will I See the Results?
You might experience a slight plumping effect of your skin immediately after your treatment. Micro-needling doesn’t create immediate results. In fact, there’s a small recovery period that’s necessary for the skin to recuperate. For one to two days after the treatment, the skin will have a red hue that’s similar to sunburn. The redness is caused by the needles’ puncture wounds. There may even be some slight bleeding. This procedure isn’t meant to have immediate results because the body needs time to heal and form the skin in the damaged areas. Approximately 48 to 72 hours after the treatment you will have an increase in collagen production. It takes at least four weeks to see noticeable results.
