Belkyra and Ultherapy treatments are both unique in their indications. They are both designed to target distinctly separate aesthetic concerns.
It is important to understand the differences between the technologies prior to pursuing either option. There are several factors to consider, including the amount of fat and loose skin under the chin and neck.
If submental fat is the issue, than Belkyra is an injectable treatment designed to specifically melt the fat in the chin area.
Belkyra is a series of injections that uses Deoxycholic acid to break down fatty tissue. Patients will see a visible difference even after their 1st treatment. Most patients require 2-4 treatments and some may require up to 6 treatments. You will not need ongoing or additional treatments once you have achieved your results.
Although Belkyra is a good choice for reducing fat underneath the chin non-invasively, Belkyra will not tighten the skin.
If someone is concerned about skin laxity and skin tightening under the chin, than Ultherapy is your better choice.
Ultherapy is a focused Ultrasound treatment that is used to help tighten the SMAS tissue (muscle) and loose skin. Ultherapy tightens and lifts, but is not designed to dissolve fat.
Ultherapy can also be used in conjunction with Belkyra.
It is possible that both fat reduction and a skin tightening procedure may be needed to achieve a better chin and jaw contour. Once the Belkyra has eliminated the fatty deposits under the chin, then Ultherapy can be performed to tighten and lift the area after the fat is removed.
