Restylane® contains hyaluronic acid, a natural compound found in all connective tissues.

The primary function of hyaluronic acid is to stabilize cellular structures and form a fluid medium in which collagen becomes embedded.

As you age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in your skin decreases, resulting in drier skin and increased wrinkles. When injected into your skin, Restylane® works with your body's own hyaluronic acid to create the volume needed to lift fine lines and wrinkles.

Touch ups can be performed any time you like after the previous treatment. Restylane® injections are usually painless in treating wrinkles, however the area can be slightly red and swollen afterwards. This generally goes away in a day or two.

Restylane® naturally dissolves in your body over time, and because it is not extracted from animals, there is no risk of allergic reaction.

Perlane®, which is similar to Restylane®, is also used to reshape the contour of the face. Perlane's larger particle size and thicker viscosity makes it ideal for smoothing out those deeper folds and wrinkles in addition to lip enhancement.
