What is PRP

PRP stands for platelet rich plasma in which the heavy concentration of platelets provides the essential growth factors to promote formation of new collagen in the skin to maintain its youthfulness It will also soften scars. Following treatment over the next 3 months, wrinkles will be reduced; skin’s crépiness and texture will be improved. It takes 3 treatment sessions every 2-4 weeks without any downtime.

History of PRP

In the last five years, professional athletes like Tiger Woods with inflammation injuries have had PRP injected into their injured area to recover faster. The growth factors in the platelets are instrumental speeding healing!

How is it performed?
PRP Process

Dr. Ellis will take 8 ml of blood from your arm and use a special machine to spin it down to get the platelet rich plasma. Through an injection machine with a tiny needle like that oscillates rapidly, the PRP is rapidly tapped one or 2 mm into the skin. Injection of the PRP into the skin is not painful even in the lips or under the eyes.

Posting PRP care

There is no downtime! After the treatment, you may see tiny red dots but these disappear that night. Any swelling is virtually unnoticed. Most patients report that they are able to return to their daily activities the same day. After 4 hrs, you can wash your face if you wish.

Full healing

Over the three months following the PRP sessions, the growth factors in the platelets stimulate skin to form new collagen decreasing the creepiness and improving the more youthful appearance of your skin. If it is done for scars, they will come much softer and less thick.

This procedure should be repeated every month for three months to maximize the result. Scientific evidence so far shows the effect will last one year to two years, but yearly maintenance will be needed to keep the results.

What is PRP?
PRP For Hair Loss

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. It is a non-surgical treatment option for men and women with concerns of hair loss. This treatment is performed in an office/clinic setting to stimulate hair growth. PRP is drawn from the human blood. Human blood contains essential and specific growth factors that promote tissue regeneration and healing. In the medical field, PRP has been used extensively in many specialties for the last twenty years such as sports medicine, orthopedics, oral surgery, neurosurgery, plastic and cosmetic surgery.

How does it Work?

Your blood is drawn in our office similar to the routine blood test performed at a laboratory setting. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge where the PRP is separated from the rest of the blood. Once the PRP is drawn, it is injected into your scalp with a tiny needle that oscillates rapidly. This high concentration of platelets contains essential growth factors necessary to stimulate growth in the hair follicles. PRP stimulates hair follicles in the telogen phase and converts it to the anagen phase to produce hair. There is no pain during this process. Our patients can drive home after the treatment, as no sedation is required during the treatment.

Posting PRP care

After the treatment, it is likely you may see tiny red dots but these will disappear in 24 hours. Any swelling is virtually unnoticed. Bruising is possible but extremely rare on the scalp. Most patients report that they are able to return to their daily activities the same day. After 4 hours you can wash your hair if you wish.

When can I see the results?
PRP Results

Following the treatment over the next 3 months, hair will start to grow.
The growth of hair is slow growing about half an inch per month. At 1 week after the procedure, Revivogen Hair Re-growth system should be started. This combination allows the hair shaft to grow thicker and longer.

Scientific evidence so far shows the effect will last one year to two years and more sessions on a yearly basis will be needed for maintenance.
