Liposuction
is designed to remove localized deposits of excess fat
anywhere on your body, that are resistant to diet and
exercise. A small tube called a canula is connected to
a gentle vacuum machine. This is then inserted into the
fatty tissue through tiny incisions placed in inconspicuous
locations on the skin. The physician gently moves the
canula around under your skin, removing the unwanted fat.
The result is a reshaping of bulging areas into more attractive
contours. Liposuction is an excellent method of spot reduction
but is not a substitute for weight loss.

Ultrasonic liposuction involves the use of high frequency
sound waves to liquefy the fat cells under the skin, thereby
allowing the fat to be gently aspirated away. These sound
waves act primarily on the fat cells and really have no
effect on the other tissues. Ultrasonic liposuction has
the advantage of minimizing pain, bleeding, bruising,
and swelling after the procedure. With Ultrasonic liposuction,
we can achieve smoother results, remove difficult fibrous
fatty deposits and improve your recovery time. Ultrasonic
liposuction also involves less blood loss.

There are no definite weight or age restrictions for ultrasonic
liposuction. We usually achieve the most dramatic results
with people who have localized areas of protruding fat.
Patients who are within thirty pounds of their ideal weight
and have been stable at that weight can also benefit from
ultrasonic liposuction. Good skin elasticity permits the
skin to shrink easily to the newly reduced contour.

In women, the single most frequently treated areas are
the outer thighs, followed by the stomach, hips, buttocks,
knees, lower leg, cheeks and double chins. In men, the
flank area or "love handles" are treated most
frequently followed by abdomen and neckline.
